Freshman Advising Information

The freshman advising tutorial and workshop are the advising method used for UASC freshmen. Students must complete both the online tutorial and in-office workshop once each semester during your freshman year.

Freshman Advising Tutorial

The Freshman Advising Tutorial is a series of 3 modules and 3 quizzes. You will learn about scheduling for classes, advising, major matriculation policies, and keeping track of requirements. The tutorial saves your progress so you can complete it at your own pace.

You can access the on-line tutorial at uasc.wvu.edu. Log in using your Master ID and password.

The Spring 2012 Freshman Advising Tutorial must be completed by Wednesday, February 29th.

Once you have completed your Freshman Advising Tutorial, it will help you register for a Freshman Advising Workshop.

Freshman Advising Workshop

computers

Location: Room 202, Student Services Center

Duration: Each workshop runs 1 hour and 30 minutes in length. Students who arrive late will not be permitted in the workshop.

How to Prepare: Bring a writing utensil, complete the Freshman Advising Tutorial, and write down a list of questions and/or concerns to ask the advisors.

Important Policies:

1.) Students must be scheduled for a workshop and have completed the Freshman Advising Tutorial in order to attend. Students are not permitted to attend workshops as walk-ins.

2.) Students who are not scheduled for a workshop or arrive late will be asked to reschedule.

3.) Students who miss or cancel (within 24 hours) two scheduled workshop appointments will not be permitted to reschedule until after their registration access date.

4.) No UASC freshman will have a registration hold removed without attending an advising workshop.

5.) Students are not permitted to use cell phones, sleep, eat, drink, or act in a disrespectful manner to the workshop staff. Students engaging in one of these behaviors will be warned and, if the behavior continues, will be asked to leave and reschedule another workshop. This will count as one of their missed workshops. Drunk students or students smelling strongly of alcohol or illicit substances may be removed from the workshop and instructed to reschedule.

If you have any questions about the freshman advising tutorial or the freshman advising workshop call (304) 293-5805. Complete your tutorial and schedule a workshop as early in the semester as possible, to avoid missing your registration access date.
